Anna Schmitt
PADI course director, Egypt
I am Anna Schmitt, PADI course instructor and founder of the “Planet A” Diving Club. I am also an ecologist and marine conservationist.
The Red Sea has been my office for over 14 years, where I have taught around 1000 students from beginners to professionals, sharing my experience, discovering and learning something new with each student.
One of my missions is to build a strong professional diving community with excellent teaching skills and attitudes worldwide. I am also focused on driving the development of quality instructor training in Egypt. For me, the quality that my instructor candidates impart to their students and the safety they provide is a priority.

Throughout my diving career, I have always been environmentally conscious. I care about the health of the Red Sea and regularly organise clean-ups where many divers get involved to make a difference.
Last year we represented the Red Sea in the global 7 Seas clean-up. We collected over 450 plastic bottles and over 200 kilos of marine debris in a 15-minute dive. It's hard to make a difference on a global scale, but we can definitely make a difference in our local communities. What we do is not easy, but it is extremely important and rewarding. So never think that what you are doing is not enough - every little effort counts.
