What is a diving undergarment and why is it important?
An undergarment is the insulating layer you wear beneath a drysuit. It retains heat through the layer of air between your body and the drysuit, so it is crucial for your comfort and safety when sport diving. Depending on the water temperature, you can choose a thin or thick undergarment, or even opt for two layers.
Which undergarment suits which dry suit or wetsuit?
The type of diving undergarment you choose depends greatly on the type of suit you are wearing:- Trilaminate-Drysuits are lightweight and robust, but provide little insulation. In this case, thick fleece or Dynaskin undergarments offer the best protection.
- For Wetsuits a thin, stretchy undergarment made from Lycra or Dynaskin will maximise thermal insulation and mobility.
This will keep you warm, flexible and optimally protected on every dive.
Different types of undergarments – the right choice for every dive

- Neopren-Undergarments stretchy, warm and durable, ideal for colder waters. In some cases, it may be advisable to wear a 1mm wetsuit under a 5mm or 7mm wetsuit for extra warmth.
- Fleece-Undergarments –lightweight, breathable and warm. They provide brilliant thermal protection and are available in various material thicknesses.
- Dynaskins-Undergarments – particularly flexible, close-fitting and designed for maximum freedom of movement. As a thin layer beneath your wetsuit or dry suit, our Dynaskins are ideal.
