Amber Carter

Scientist, Tenerife

I am a marine scientist, storyteller, and award-winning explorer whose work lies at the crossroads of marine conservation and human societies.

My research recognises the intrinsic link between environ- mental and social challenges, advocating for solutions that address both.

My work has taken me to some of the most remote places on Earth. From diving with tiger sharks around oceanic is- lands in Mexico to study unique coral communities, to leading filmmaking projects in collaboration with traditional fishing communities in remote regions of Madagascar and Indonesia.

Diving plays a dual role in my life: it helps me understand the ecosystems I study, and it brings me joy, calm and the ultimate connection to nature
